A woman of virtue
It is with a sense of deep loss, that I inform our national and international church family, of the passing of our beloved, fellow-labourer and servant, Sister Colleen E Laing.
Statement: Passing of Sister Colleen E. Laing
“She perfumed and enriched our hearts, minds and lives, with the mist of God’s Grace.”
It is with a sense of deep loss, that I inform our national and international church family, of the passing of our beloved, fellow-labourer and servant, Sister Colleen E Laing. As a church in collaboration, with our elders and entire constituents, we express profound condolences, with prayers and support to Sister Laing, her family and extended families.
Sister Colleen was ill for a very short time, admitted to her local hospital on Monday evening of this week, appeared to be improving; well enough for plans to be made for her to be discharged today, but alas, she passed in the early hours of this morning, approximately 5:00am, (GMT).
Sister Colleen has served our church, in a number of significant roles and responsibilities, for approximately 40 years, the last 30 years, as Church Office Manager and Secretary, to a long line of National Overseers for the United Kingdom. Even though, she was not an ordained minister, yet every fibre of her being was dedicated, focussed and targeted on advancing the Kingdom of God, through the channels of her administrative tasks, within the Church of God of Prophecy.
There’s no doubt that she served as an effective elder at the national and international gates of our churches, her local church, ecumenical and para-Church organisations.
Today, we all sit with Sister Laing, her family, extended families and our entire church family; nationally and internationally, in the house of mourning. We do so in our grief and sorrow, but not without the living hope, that illuminates our hearts and this dim passage, through which we pass.
“When they arrive at the gates of death, GOD welcomes those who love him.”
